Financial literacy workshops in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario
Life Capital runs financial literacy workshops for teens in Ottawa and Eastern Ontario: open sessions of five hours from 13:00, usually at weekends, with up to eight players at a table and a certified Trainer leading the debrief. No open dates are published: a date is agreed in the reply to your enquiry, against the rooms and Trainers free that month. An open seat costs CAD 150, or CAD 100 each when two people book together. Players make decisions, work with a balance sheet, respond to changing circumstances and then talk through the choices.

Life Capital’s Canadian activity includes national youth tournament events in Ottawa. The first Canadian national tournament was held at Carleton University in April 2025, followed by the second national stage in Ottawa in March 2026.

The free options first
Ottawa has free, staff-led financial-literacy programs for schools, in English and French. The Bank of Canada Museum books them online across Canada and onsite in Ottawa, with a temporary-closure notice standing on the Museum itself as of 23 September 2026. A class with no budget line for this should start there, and a teacher who asks us about free options gets that answer in the reply.
A paid five-hour session answers a different question. One table, five to eight players, a paper ledger each, a Trainer and a Banker in the room for the whole session, and roughly forty years of adult financial life played in one sitting: a first job, borrowing, insurance, a missed payment, a change of career. The debrief is each player reading their own ledger aloud and saying what every choice cost. The session produces no scores and no reports about a student; the ledger belongs to the player.

For Ontario schools
Schools can use a classroom workshop, recurring club or tournament pathway. For Grade 10 students, Life Capital can complement learning around the concepts behind Ontario’s new Financial Literacy Graduation Requirement, while remaining separate from the official TVO modules and assessment.
