26–28 April 2024, Vienna. The Financial Literacy Ambassador League and the NGO Business Club “Partner”, with the support of the Deposit Guarantee Fund and Rotary in Ukraine, held the first international Life Capital financial literacy tournament.

The players were Ukrainian teenagers: a team from Ukraine and teams of young Ukrainians who left the country because of the war. Rotarians from several countries paid for the players to travel to Vienna and to stay there, and the program included time in the city.

Entries and result

Twelve countries were on the entry list: Ukraine, Greece, Slovakia, Poland, Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Croatia, Portugal, Denmark, the USA and Canada. Five teams made the published standings, scored in the in-game currency: Germany, Ukraine, Greece, Canada and Slovakia. Team Germany won.

Framework

The tournament was part of the National Financial Literacy Project 2.0, whose stated goal is to bring state and civic effort in financial education together for Ukrainians abroad. Its working aims:

a network of international partner hubs;
exchange of financial-education practice between countries, for use in Ukraine;
presenting new work in deposit guarantees.

According to the event report, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Austria, a Ministry of Education representative and Austrian officials attended.
